This is an arrangement of the Charlie Parker classic "Donna Lee."

A young timbalero and vibraphone player, Tito Puente, enjoyed the success of leading Latin musicians Machito and Tito Rodriguez. In Puente's playing one could find Latin versions of jazz material as well as mambos that had a clear jazz swing. Jazz material was traditionally more harmonically complex than Latin material, while Latin rhythms were more complex than those of jazz. Puente would borrow the more complex harmonies of jazz for his Latin arrangements and, conversely, infuse his jazz performances with complex Lating rhythms.
